Corrosion Protection Services

Since our inception, IFCO has diversified itself to encompass a wide range of industry’s needs. What began as a refractory company comprised of firebrick masons has now become a legion of ironworkers, carpenters, electricians, and instrumentation engineers. In the late 1990’s, we became an installer of flooring and lining systems. Whereas our original aim was to install refractory lining systems to protect a steel shell against heat and corrosion, it was only natural that we progress to flooring and lining systems. The only difference now is that in addition to protecting steel, we are also protecting concrete floors, walls tanks, ceilings, and other applications.

Plants hire our company to do work on their furnaces because our crews are able to handle everything from steel erection to combustion systems. We offer them a complete package. The same can be said for lining systems, where our crews can take on projects ranging from floor resurfacing to complete concrete and steel restoration. Our experience helps to catch problems before they evolve into time-consuming expensive overhauls. If a complete overhaul is needed, our customers benefit from knowing the job is going to be done right the first time, eliminating any unplanned costly down time. More importantly, our crews make safety their utmost priority. All of our workers annually undergo OSHA safety training.

IFCO has performed services in 47 American states (including Hawaii and Alaska), as well as Europe, Africa, and south America. Our office personnel and skilled field crews are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We also offer an inspection service complete with procedural tests and written detailed reports. Please read more about these inspections in our maintenance plan page.

We have been in business for over a half of century. With the recent addition of another generation to our family business, expect us to be around for at least that much longer. We have been successful because we provide top quality work followed by exceptional service. We treat our customers with the idea that we want to service them today, tomorrow, and for the next fifty years.

Product Line

Coatings ♦ Flooring and linings ♦ Chemical-resistant refractories and mortars ♦ Membranes ♦ Elastomeric grouts ♦ Substrate repair material ♦ Electrostatic discharge flooring

Combining our experience with top quality products ensures the installation of a total quality system that will provide years of reliable service. The products we handle provide successful corrosion protection to an array of industrial areas. Our product line has successfully performed in:

  • General industry
  • Foundries
  • Chemical plants
  • Paper mills
  • Pulp mills
  • Tank hose basements
  • Food processing plants
  • Meat processing plants
  • Metal finishing plants

The floor systems we install are 1/8" to 3/8" thick and designed to provide a surface that is non-porous and ultra-dense. The coatings vary from modified polyester/vinylester systems for maximum corrosive resistance to decorative epoxy systems designed for commercial or light industrial applications. The topcoat can be altered to provide different colors and varying degrees of nonskid. Even our electrostatic discharge flooring comes in a multitude of colors.

We also carry lining systems which can be applied to the interior of tanks and trenches. These seamless linings can be applied to horizontal, vertical, and overhead surfaces. They are specially formulated to withstand a broad range of chemical attack while resisting temperatures up to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. For protection at even higher temperatures, our chemical-resistant refractories protect to 2100 degrees Fahrenheit.

In addition to lining systems and coatings, we carry four variations of polymer concretes which are commonly used for building or rebuilding trenches, sumps, pumps and machinery pads. These products, both pourable and trowelable, are extremely acid and alkaline resistant. Its built-in fiber reinforcement virtually eliminates cracking and tremendously increases its impact resistance. Inside our 100,000 square foot warehouse is a casting shop which services municipalities with pre-cast polymer concrete shapes for their sewer systems.

Please contact us when your facility requires a corrosion protection system. Your proposed surface will be analyzed by our engineering staff to establish specific product and installation requirements. Lastly, we do not have to install the products we carry in order to sell them to you. Installation over concrete or metal is simple with pre measured, prepackaged kits, and easy to follow instructions. Please also inquire about our volume discount prices, prices lower than our normally discounted rates.

Maintenance Plans for Industrial Flooring

Floors need to be treated like any other piece of equipment; where upon the key to a long-lasting life relies upon routine maintenance and upkeep. Scheduled inspections and, if necessary, small patches help to eliminate the need for costly, larger repairs. A small patch can also usually be performed without shutting down or interfering with the normal day-to-day operations of the plant.

In an era where industry is decreasing its work force while simultaneously increasing the workload of each individual worker, plant supervisors generally do not have the time or labor required to properly look after their floors. This neglect can be costly. We offer a service plan that aims to eliminate the headaches that come with not paying attention to floors until it’s too late.

The bottom line is that our maintenance program will reduces cost. Because it is established over a set period of time, the customer is "locked in" at fixed labor and material rates, both of which are significantly discounted. Likewise, our experience and frequent inspections catch problems before they evolve into expensive, time-consuming projects.

The core of our service plan involves an inspection every three months, beginning at the completion of the job and continuing through the agreed time period. All inspections will include a written detailed report on the status of the floors. There is no cost for these inspections. If it is determined that a problem area exists, we will quickly respond to see that a patch is made. The pricing is determined by a square foot basis.
